Mount Kimbie’s sophomore album is official! The duo announced that their first LP since Crooks & Lovers will be released on May 28th. The Warp Records release entitled Cold Spring Fault Less Youth will contain 11 new tracks, two of which will feature the vocals of King Krule. One of the new tracks titled “Made to Stray” is available for free download HERE. The new track features many layers of shifting percussion and shifts between a bellowing club banger and a mellower yet soulful number that would be well suited for a late night drive around the city. The percussion gives the track more of a house vibe whereas the smooth keyboard chords, the light indie-rock vocals, and the ambient saxophone cacophony in the background give it more of a melancholy and loving jazz vibe. These two sides meld together quite nicely although sometimes it sounds like one element wants to overtake the other but doesn’t quite get there. Its as if the producer was unsure of what sounds they wanted to shine through.

The third installation of Ghibli’s youtube sampled album trilogy, titled Clubs, was released on the 7th of this month. The 10-track LP is filled with an array of undulating house jams in the 130bpm range that vary in sentiment from melancholic to gleeful and inhibition free. They are anything but generic due to the qualities inherent in the youtube samples. However, this means that some of the tracks can be a bit crunchy and brash. I recommend the tracks “Vespers” and “Measures Words.” The whole LP is available for free download along with the other two installments, I recommend that you grab them now!
